Note that the experienced tasters did no better than the two other groups of tasters when attempting to determine the proportion of white grapes from taste alone (see text) suggesting that the proportion of white grapes might not give rise to a particularly distinctive taste in sparkling wines, as was previously believed [9, 10]. Experienced tasters plotted in blue, intermediates in black, and novices in grey. In addition, the actual proportion of white grape that went into each sparkling wine is plotted with a green ‘x’.
